In spring 2014 we created the first market garden as a pilot project right next to the most effective deep well with the highest water quantity. At the beginning of 2015, we were already able to harvest vegetables for the first time. Onions, tomatoes, beans, eggplants and corn are grown there.

This pilot project is very successful and well accepted by the village inhabitants. The cultivation area has even been doubled in the following years.

In order to ensure the sustainability of this project and increase agricultural yields, we invested 4,000 Euros. With this money, seeds, different tools, watering cans and water containers were bought. In addition to that, the government provided trainings dealing with subjects such as planting, harvesting, watering habits and the production of natural fertilizer. A committee, consisting of village inhabitants are voluntarily supervising the work.

The aim of this project is to enable the people to become self-sufficient. Surplus vegetables are sold or exchanged at markets nearby. The profit of this project is used for seeds or maintenance works, this way the project is self-financing now.
